House Fire
My aunt's house has burnt down. Not razed to the ground but the structure's unsafe and there's no knowing yet whether it will be saved or the four houses in the terrace will have to be demolished. Fortunately everyone in the four houses got out safely - how there were no casualties is amazing (says a lot for smoke alarms I guess). The fire closed the road and this morning (over 36 hours after it started) there was still a fire engine on site, in case it flared back up. Now Jean and John are in a hotel provided by the insurance company and my cousin Michael (who has cerebral palsy) is in sheltered accommodation. Nobody knows what's going to happen next.I have to extend thanks to @JimFawlty on Twitter for taking these photos for us - an incredibly nice thing to do for a complete stranger leaving messages about the initial photo he took, showing the backs of the houses. (The family is pretty widespread, so it's not easy to get photos within the family to disseminate as far afield as it has gone.)
